My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wheatly 🤍

3 years old • 21 lbs • Corgi mix • Neutered male

Wheatly is a gentle, affectionate little guy with a tender heart and a sweet, calm personality. He came to us from a hoarding situation with more than 20 dogs and has made wonderful progress learning how to relax and enjoy life in a home.

He bonds closely with his person and loves being nearby. One of his cutest habits is climbing behind you and resting his chin on your shoulder like a tiny hug. Wheatly is happiest in a peaceful environment where he can soak up affection and companionship.

Wheatly is currently thriving in a foster home where he has truly blossomed. He is fully house trained with no accidents, does well being left out in the home, and has proven to be an easy, low-maintenance companion. He settles nicely, is not destructive, and simply wants to be close to his people.

He has a nice, moderate energy level — happy to play when invited, but just as content relaxing near his person. Wheatly especially loves playing chase and enjoys interactive time with his people more than food rewards.

Wheatly does well with other dogs and prefers gentle, respectful companions. He is also comfortable around children and enjoys being part of a calm household routine.

He is crate trained, leash trained, and understands basic household structure. Wheatly may show some anxiety when left alone and does best in homes with consistent routines and strong human connection.

Because Wheatly can become mouthy when overstimulated, he would do best in a home with adults or teens (13+). Large public adoption events are stressful for him, so he is available for adoption by appointment only, where he can comfortably meet potential families.

Wheatly is the definition of a loyal “shadow dog.” In the right home, he is an incredibly special companion who will return stability and kindness with quiet affection and unwavering devotion.

Additional adoption info

At Rebel Animal Rescue, we believe in keeping adoption as simple and welcoming as possible. Instead of strict, one-size-fits-all requirements, we focus on open conversations with potential adopters. We want to learn about your home, lifestyle, and any challenges you might face, and work together on solutions that set you and your new pet up for success.

The adoption process starts with a short application, which we review to make sure the match could be a good fit. From there, we arrange a meet-and-greet with your entire family—and for dog adoptions, your resident dogs too.

If everyone feels good about the match, we encourage a one-week trial period. This gives you time to see how your new pet settles in. At the end of the week, we’ll finalize the adoption if it’s working out—or welcome the animal back if it’s not the right fit.

Our goal is to find loving, lasting homes while keeping the process as stress-free as possible for both you and the animal.
