Canelo is a big, goofy, high-energy young dog who absolutely loves other dogs and people.
He’s affectionate, social, and always ready to play. Canelo seeks out interaction, enjoys toys, and brings classic “teenage dog” energy wherever he goes. He knows basic cues like sit, walks well on leash, and is crate trained — he settles nicely in his kennel and is comfortable being handled for petting, brushing, and collaring.
Canelo is very dog friendly and loves to play, but he’s still learning play manners and can get overly enthusiastic at times. He does best with dogs who enjoy active play or with an owner who’s comfortable helping him take breaks and learn when to settle.
He has been around cats in foster and did not show concerning behavior, but any new introductions should be done slowly and thoughtfully.
He’s still working on house training and will need a patient adopter who’s willing to continue that training — but at his age, he’s smart, eager, and very trainable.

If everyone feels good about the match, we encourage a one-week trial period. This gives you time to see how your new pet settles in. At the end of the week, we’ll finalize the adoption if it’s working out—or welcome the animal back if it’s not the right fit.
