Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pecan is a 2-year-old, neutered Treeing Wasler Coonhound. He was rescued by the finder after it was reported that he was used for hunting and kept in isolation outdoors for approximately a year and a half. He was allegedly confined in a makeshift kennel surrounded by barbed wire, with only a barrel for shelter, and was left there regardless of extreme weather conditions.
Despite this, he has a very calm, gentle, and sweet demeanor. He does well with people, other dogs, and cats. While he is somewhat shy and timid, he has shown no signs of aggression. He has not bitten, snapped, or displayed reactive behavior toward anyone in the home. The only noted sensitivity is mild startle responses to sudden noises. Videos documenting his behavior are available.
Since being rescued, he has made significant progress. He is becoming more curious about his surroundings and has developed a strong affection for cuddling. He was successfully house trained in two days. As is typical for his breed, he has an excellent sense of small and enjoys using his nose; if something goes missing, he is more than capable of tracking it down.
The finder greatly admires his resilience and the strides he has made in such a short period of time. He is learning how to simply be a dog and truly deserves a second chance at life in a locing, permanent home.

Everyone that adopts must first fill out an application and get approved by our adoption team. We allow people to meet our animals to make sure it is the right fit along with letting their animals meet our animals as well as long as that animal meets the vetting criteria.
