My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lily!

Lily is a 5-year-old girl with a very sweet face and a gentle soul. She is extremely shy with new people and slow to trust, having already done one of the hardest jobs there is - raising her puppies. Now it is Lily's turn to be safe, settled, and never rushed again.

Lily is a true homebody who prefers calm, routine, and predictability. Lily isn't really into people in the traditional sense, but she finds comfort and confidence in other dogs. She loves dogs of all sizes (though puppies are not her favorite) and tends to choose one dog to attach herself to while still being perfectly happy as part of a pack. She follows other dog's leads - going outside with them, settling where they settle, and learning the rhythm of the household through them.

Lily does enjoy snuggling on the human bed and is perfectly happy sharing that space with cats, too. She is good with cats overall and appreciates having her own quiet spot where she can retreat when she needs space. She is crate trained and housetrained, largely by following the example of the other dogs in the home. Food is Lily's love language. She happily takes treats from your hand, but she may let you know how she is feeling with a gentle nose boop. Sometimes it means "please stop touching me" and other times it means "excuse me, I believe you forgot the snacks". It is her subtle, endearing way of communicating.

Lily needs a patient, understanding family who will move slowly, respect her boundaries, and let her trust grow naturally. She is not a dog who demands attention but for the right home, she will be  a quiet, loyal presence who will weave herself into your life.

Lily can be possessive of her space but is good with food and toys. She doesn't like anyone going in her crate which is rather hypocritical because she thinks it's fine for her to go in anyone else's crate    When she is pushed too hard or feels defensive (like being taken to the vet for scary vaccinations) she can be bitey. A soft and slow approach to let her know what is happening and to get her consent helps her a lot. She still needs work on allowing people to touch her more freely and we would love to see her with a family who can help her learn that she will be listened to and can feel autonomy over her own body.

Lily is  super cute and does a cute little tap dance with her front feet and butt in the air when you get her meal together or she thinks you're handing out treats.

Lily is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $250

We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
