My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sage, a sweet and mellow adult cat who calls the shelter his temporary home. With a friendly demeanor, Sage easily wins the hearts of everyone he meets. He enjoys peaceful afternoons and is always ready for a gentle pat or a cozy lap to curl up on. Ideal for a family looking for a calm companion, Sage promises to bring a lot of love and tranquility to his new home. If you`re seeking a furry friend who embodies kindness and serenity, Sage should be your top choice for adoption.

Sage was exposed to but tested negative for Feline Leukemia. It is a disease that can`t be treated, but infected cats are still able to live a happy and healthy life! FeLV is shed in the saliva and can be transmitted to other cats from behaviors like grooming and head butting as well as shared water or food bowls. The risk of transmission is moderate, so the adopter will need to use their best judgment regarding co-housing with negative resident cats until this cat is retested in 60 days.

Sage has been diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This disease is not curable, but he can still live a very long and healthy life! FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds and is unlikely to be spread through sharing of water bowls or other close contact. Friendly cats who develop stable relationships without fighting are at minimal risk of transmission, so slow introductions are highly recommended!
