My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Freddie has been "The Blue Eyed King" of the corner of 73rd & Kenwood for almost 2 years- but due to Chicago's dangerously cold winter this year, Freddie was taken inside just prior to Christmas. He is adjusting well to indoor kitty life! He is using his litter box and has already gained several pounds! Freddie loves following his human's around and being the center of attention. He LIVES for meal time (wet food in particular) and will get very excited when he sees a can of food. Freddie is a 2 year old male with a lot of energy who plays HARD and rough. One of his favorite games is "Go Fish" in the bathtub. Freddie can also be very sweet and likes to sleep at the bottom of his owner's bed at night and at nap time. Unfortunately, Freddie is too energetic for our senior cat. Freddie would do great as the only cat, or with another young cat or kitten

More about this rescue

Hyde Park Cats is a local, all volunteer group dedicated to helping stray and homeless cats in and around Chicago's Hyde Park. We received our 501©(3) status in 2014 and we were founded in 2008. See all our adoptable kitties on our webpage: http://hydeparkcats.org/adopt/

All of our cats are in loving foster homes, which means the cat or cats you adopt will be familiar with the sounds, smells and movements of life in a home and accustomed to living with humans. Our adoptable have been interacting on a daily basis with people who know this particular cat intimately, and the foster mom or dad can tell you all about the cat's individual personality, habits, preferences. You can't judge a cat by its cover! And while we can't predict the future or know everything about a cat, we can help you choose the cat who is right for you.

We have an adoption application and an adoption fee. This fee goes towards covering their vet costs. All cats adopted out by us are neutered/spayed, micro-chipped, tested for FIV/FeLV, and treated for fleas and worms.
