My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐈🐱🐈 Cat-friendly 🐈🐱🐈

A light sprinkling of Pepper can be all you need to savor life’s good stuff!

Pepper came to us shy and scared, but we could tell there was a whole lot of sweetness in there. With lots of snuggles, consistency and a few treats, her personality has absolutely blossomed while she’s been in foster. She is adorable and loves to be loved. Her history of being neglected has not changed her love toward people one bit. She’s gonna make someone(s) such a terrific pal.

Pepper is a goofy 1-year-old Catahoula/Black Labrador mix who weighs a svelte 40 pounds. Her coat and markings are endlessly beautiful – and her looks definitely attract attention.

Like any good peppery flavor, she’ll take a bit of time to show her full character. So she’ll need a patient family who’ll give her the days and weeks to get accustomed to her new place. Before you know it, her silly self will emerge, and she’ll be talking to you regularly and asking for her favorite belly scratches. She is a low-key lady who just wants someone to love her (which is really easy to do).

Pepper loves all her people once she’s comfortable. She likes things pretty quiet, so she should live with older kids (10+) who don’t make as much noise. She doesn’t jump on kids and is really patient with them. She likes to take her time getting to know other dogs, but once she is acquainted, she likes them a lot. She LOVES her foster dog sibling and would benefit from having a confident dog around to show her how great her new family and home are. She does fine with cats.

Pepper sits on command and responds to other things you say. She is house trained with a consistent routine, and she’s crate trained. She sleeps in bed with her foster people or on the floor at night. She does fine on a leash, but she is afraid of cars, so walks aren’t always her favorite. Walks on trails or paths away from the street could be enjoyable, with time.

She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, and she’ll come to you current on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $175. To adopt this beauty, apply today at PawsitiveTailsKC.org.

Where are you located?
Pawsitive Tails does not have a physical location. All of our dogs live in loving foster homes throughout the Kansas City and Topeka area. This allows fosters to get to know each dog personally, so we can find the very best home for them.

What are your hours?
As a foster based rescue, every person with Pawsitive Tails is a volunteer. Because we do not have a facility, we do not have “open” hours but can be contacted between 8am and 9pm.

Can I stop in to visit dogs and play with puppies?
No. We require an approved application to be on file before meeting our dogs/puppies. In addition, our dogs live in foster homes, so we must work around the foster parents’ schedule.

More about this rescue

Pawsitive Tails strives to be something different in the animal adoption community. We simply want to help dogs and puppies find new homes by matching the right dog to the right family.

Pawsitive Tails is a not for profit organization focused on finding forever homes for dog and puppies. We are not a shelter and we do not have a facility - all the dogs in our program live in foster homes.
