Meet Polly! Polly came to Heartland from Chicago Animal Care and Control after she was found outside and brought there. Early on it was suspected she was pregnant, and the suspicions were correct!
We are grateful Polly was able to go to a foster home to ride out the rest of her pregnancy where she gave birth to three adorable babies, Penny, Toby, and Benny. Here is what her foster mom has to say about her:
"I’m not just saying that for the sake of this bio. I have fostered many, many pregnant moms over the years, and Polly easily ranks in my top three. From the very beginning, she has been an absolute sweetheart.
On her first day with me, she was a bit scared and would hide. But the moment I gently approached her, she completely melted. Purring, head-butting, soaking up every bit of affection. Despite her tiny frame and very big, round belly full of kittens, she had so much love to give. It almost felt like she was thanking me for getting her off the streets and into a warm, safe home.
Three weeks later, Polly welcomed her three beautiful babies. She has been a wonderful, attentive mom, which comes as no surprise. As her kittens grow and play, it’s the most endearing thing to watch Polly join in. She doesn’t just supervise, she participates! If I toss a toy, Polly will chase it, pick it up, and carry it back, not to me, but to her kittens! As if she’s saying, 'Here you go, babies, your turn!'
Polly is joyful and full of life. She would transition easily into any loving home. Even better would be seeing her adopted with one of her kittens. She’s so playful, like a kitten herself and kittens truly thrive with a buddy.
If I had to describe Polly in just three words, they would be: affectionate, awe-inspiring and an absolute dream."
Polly is spayed, up-to-date on FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations and is FIV and FeLV negative.
Polly is currently staying at our Heartland Facility! We are open Thursday 4pm-7pm, Friday 4pm-7pm, Saturday Noon-6pm and Sunday Noon-6pm. Feel free to stop by to meet her! No appointment necessary.
