My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Your Next Big Adventure Buddy!
This big, strong, and handsome pup is full of personality and heart, with a lovable adolescent vibe that makes him impossible not to root for. He’s sweet, affectionate, and enjoys being the center of attention. Underneath his confident looks is a sensitive guy who can feel anxious and busy when the world gets overwhelming—but he’s making great progress and is becoming more comfortable on walks every day. He’s eager to learn and truly shines when he’s relaxed.
We have been working on behaviour modification for resource guarding as he has displayed this with people during his time in shelter, high value items such as chew sticks are still a challenge for him but he has made progress and with the right adopter and trainer this guy should continue to make progress.
Treats are a fantastic motivator for him and help make training fun and rewarding. He’s looking for an active, adult-only home with people experienced with large breed dogs who can provide structure, patience, and confidence-building guidance. He has completed playtimes with other dogs, but due to resource guarding of high-value items living with another dog may not be the best fit. A private consultation will be required with adoption to continue working on his resource guarding and set everyone up for success. This sweet boy is ready for his next big adventure—could it be with you?

Size: Large- 36lbs /80kgs
Children: Adult only home please
Cats: No cats or small animals please
Dogs: May do best as an only dog, especially while working on a training program

Go meet their pets

The City of Calgary is once again adopting cats and dogs at the Animal Services Centre in addition to transferring adoptable pets to our partner agencies, to help animals find their furever homes faster.

Shelters and rescue agencies are currently at capacity with the overpopulation of homeless animals. The City reinstated its adoption program to assist with this crisis by making adoptable animals available by appointment. Once a pet is deemed adoptable, they are available either at the Animal Services Centre or one of our partner agencies: the Calgary Humane Society, or the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS).

Adoptions are available by appointment only by calling 311 or by visiting Animal Services. Appointment are available from 10:00am thru 5:30pm (this may change and is subject to availability) Monday through Saturday. Adoption cost is $169 + GST for cats and $225 + GST for dogs. Adoption fees include medical and dental care, vaccinations, microchip, City of Calgary licence, and spaying/neutering.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet is encouraged to check out the adoptable animals on Calgary.ca/pets and at the links below.

Hidden gems
We’re rolling out the red carpet for some very special stars—our Hidden Gems! These are the wonderful cats and dogs who’ve been with us for a little longer than most and while they’ve been patiently waiting, we think it’s time they got their moment to shine.

To help these lovable animals find their forever homes, we’re offering them at a special adoption price: $100 + GST

No matter what you are looking for, one of these hidden gems may be your new best friend. Keep an eye out for “hidden gem” on their profile below.
