Meet Regina George, a sweet four-year-old kitty with sweetness and a little added spice. Understandably, Regina George was a little stressed when she first came to the shelter. Not wanting anything to do with anyone, she would hiss and hide in the corner of her kennel. However, that stress faded away once she realized we weren't out to get her. It turns out that giving her some space and love was all she needed.
Regina George has a gorgeous brown, black and white fur coat. It's like she is a painting in real-life cat form. She now enjoys attention and is always happy to lean into your hand for pets and cuddles. She is also spayed and up to date on all her core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
