My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sky is a sweet five year young Blue Belton girl who was rescued from a hunting ranch in Texas. She is affectionate with people and good with the kids (10 & 2) in her foster home.

She can be a bossy girl with other dogs so slow and controlled introductions are important and she will do best with dogs that have a similar energy level. After settling in, she doesn’t really interact with the resident male dog. She’s an independent girl and would be fine as an only dog as long as she has plenty of people time and lots of stimulating exercise daily. She has not been assessed with cats but that could be done.

Sky has a typical activity level and prey drive for a youngish field ES. She’s ready to work and hunt if you are ready. Sky is e-collar conditioned from the hunting ranch and her foster Dad has confirmed this training. She would enjoy a medium-large Setter-interesting yard with a four foot fence where her people will spend time with her and monitor her activity. Sky and her Mother Bizzie were rescued from the hunting ranch at the same time and they are both taking advantage of their new found privilege of running as much as they want many times a day. Learning to self-regulate and not overdo it is something they are both working on, with the help of their people. It is very important that doors and gates be kept closed. Typical of our breed, she will take the opportunity to go through any opening allowed.

Sky is house and crate trained now; with her high energy level and newly learned house manners, crating will be important for settling her into her forever home initially. This is typical of hunting ranch rescued dogs and she’ll just need supervision and guidance as she continues to adapt to her new inside lifestyle.

Sky loves her daily walks, is now good on leash and she is good in the car.

Feeding separately will be important for Sky. She must have had to compete for food at the hunting ranch because she guards her food and high value treats from other dogs.

Because of her alpha tendencies with other dogs an experienced, patient adopter will be the best match. The sky is the limit for how much our sweet Sky will evolve in a loving forever home. Sky is spayed and fully vetted, house trained and crate trained. Are you ready for a very energetic young girl who is looking for love? Sky is waiting for her forever home.
