My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Stella ✨ — A Social Butterfly with a Snuggly Side

Stella is a 1.5-year-old torbie beauty with the most charming half tail and soft, medium-length fur. This girl is the total package—social, playful, cuddly, and overflowing with love. From the moment she meets you, Stella is ready to be your new best friend. 🐾

She loves being part of the action and enjoys interacting with her people, whether that means chasing toys, exploring her surroundings, or curling up close for some quality snuggle time. Stella has a warm, affectionate personality and truly thrives on companionship, making her a wonderful fit for a home where she can be included in daily life.

With her sweet nature and playful spirit, Stella brings just the right mix of fun and comfort to any home lucky enough to have her.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable animals are fostered in loving homes throughout Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding area. Because we do not operate a physical shelter, meet-and-greets are arranged by appointment only—typically after an adoption application has been submitted and approved.

For out-of-town adopters, we’re happy to offer virtual meet-and-greets to help you get to know your future furry family member before adoption or transport.

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama with transport locations throughout the Great Lakes and New England. FOR is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2009.

Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from overcrowded Southern shelters where limited space, minimal funding, and high intake rates often lead to euthanasia.

We are not professional trainers or animal behaviorists—just dedicated individuals working together to give these animals a second chance. Every pet in our program lives in a loving foster home and receives age-appropriate veterinary care while awaiting adoption.

Our ultimate goal is to match each animal with a committed, compassionate individual or family who will provide a FORever home.
