Moonlight came to us as a stray through animal control, and at first, the world felt like a very big and scary place to her. She was shy, unsure, and needed time to learn that she was finally safe. With patience, kindness, and a little space to breathe, Moonlight has slowly begun to let her beautiful personality shine.
All it takes is a couple of tasty treats and some gentle chin scratches, and she’ll start to melt right into you. Once she trusts you, she’s incredibly sweet and affectionate—especially when belly rubs are involved!
Moonlight would do best in a calm, quiet home without young children and without a lot of hustle and bustle. Loud noises and fast movements can be overwhelming for her, but with time and reassurance, she continues to grow more confident every day. While she may eventually adjust to a faster-paced home, she’ll need patience and understanding as she settles in.
She came to us with no training and was initially terrified of the leash, but she has made amazing progress. With basic training and gentle guidance, she’s learning commands and is no longer afraid to go for walks—proof of just how hard she’s trying.
Moonlight is slightly underweight, but she’s gaining beautifully and feeling better every day. One of her favorite things (besides belly rubs) is her tennis ball—you don’t even have to throw it for her, because she’s perfectly happy tossing it around all by herself!
If you have a peaceful, patient home and a big heart ready to earn her trust, Moonlight will blend in before you know it and become the most loyal little shadow you could ask for. Please make sure to have the proper time, space and resources to care for her for the rest of her life.

More about this shelter
Companions Animal Center is a non-profit organization funded exclusively by donations and grants. Every day we receive numerous homeless animals. We shelter, feed, and provide medical care for these animals while searching for loving homes for them.
As a "No-Kill" shelter, animals who are in our facility do not face a "be adopted quick or else" ultimatum but rather are cared for until they can be placed.
Our Mission - is to focus all of our efforts and resources toward directly benefiting the quality of life for all abandoned or mistreated pets with the ultimate goal of finding each one a loving household in which to share their lives.
