Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐾 Meet Phoebe! 🐾 Phoebe is a gray and white kitten with beautiful longer fur and the perfect mix of playful energy and mellow charm. She loves romping around with her littermates, especially when she can surprise them with a playful pounce from inside a tunnel — it’s one of her favorite games! 🐱💨
This fun girl enjoys climbing towers, exploring cat tunnels, scratching posts, and batting at dangly toys. When playtime is over, she’s happy to settle into a cozy soft bed for a well-earned nap. Phoebe is friendly, outgoing, and playful, with a gentle, relaxed side that makes her easy to love.
Phoebe has been around other cats and does great, and she’s been introduced to dogs with cautious curiosity. She’s litter box trained, uses her scratching post like a pro, and enjoys both wet and dry food.
If you’re looking for a fluffy, fun-loving kitten with a sweet personality, Phoebe would be a wonderful addition to a loving home. 💙🐾 Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
