Chandler is a 10-week-old orange and white kitten with a playful spirit and a curious heart. He loves to explore his world, whether that means zooming through tunnels, climbing, or wrestling with his littermates. 🧡
This energetic little guy enjoys interactive toys like wand toys and mouse toys, then happily curls up in a soft bed when playtime winds down. Chandler is friendly, outgoing, and tolerant, with a touch of kitten shyness in new places — once he settles in, his fun personality really shines.
Chandler has been around other cats and does great, and he’s been introduced to dogs where he’s shown cautious curiosity. He’s litter box trained, enjoys both wet and dry food, and is learning more every day.

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
