My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet and friendly bun was found running around outside as a stray. Fortunately, a kind family brought her inside to safety. The little girls in the family who found her named her Diamond, probably because of 2 diamond-shaped spots on her chest. Her foster family got into the habit of singing “shine bright like a diamond” by Rihanna to her, and then calling her her RiRi, and so perhaps her full name now should be Diamond RiRi Rihanna. In any case, she is a rabbit with star quality!

When Diamond came into our care she needed treatment for a botfly in her neck. This has healed completely. During her spay procedure the vet found evidence of her having had a litter at some point while she was loose outside, so she is likely between 2 and 3 years old at this time. Despite her rough beginnings, and then having to be handled constantly for medicines and wound care, Diamond has grown into a very curious and affectionate bunny. She loves to give kisses to her foster humans and chill with them on the couch. If you get on the floor with her she will happily hop around you and crawl all over you, and she will enjoy getting petted for as long as your are able to pet her. Her litter box habits are immaculate - as long as she has a high-backed litter box. She likes to make a hay hill in her box and then stand on it, which can lead to the “sprinkler effect” over the edge of the box. With a high-backed box, however, this does not occur. Her favorite toys are apple sticks, willow sticks, paper towel tubes, and hay chew toys. She is always eager for food and is a voracious hay eater. Diamond would love to find a forever home where she will be petted for substantial periods of time on a daily basis. She will reward you with kisses!

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder.

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
