My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meepers, 6y old, FIV+

Meet Meepers: — the tiny chirp you didn’t know your home was missing

Sometimes rescue starts with a message that sounds a little more urgent than the rest.
A community member reached out — an injured cat needed help, and needed it now.
So Little Lives packed up and drove two hours… and it turned out to be one of those drives you’d make a hundred times over.

Because at the end of it was Meepers. It turns out Meepers is too gentle of a cat to be on the streets, and he had a large injury on his leg. With few vet visits and a lot of love, his wounds healed and he couldn’t be more grateful and he shows it everyday since!

He earned his name immediately — not a meow, not a squeak, but a polite little “meep” chirp that he uses to comment on life’s important events: dinner time, your arrival home, and the discovery of a particularly interesting sunbeam. Add in his big round cheeks and you’ve got a face that looks permanently surprised to be this cute.

Meepers is the definition of a gentle gentleman.
Calm. Soft-natured. Peaceful presence in a room.

He’ll rub against your legs in greeting, settle nearby like a polite roommate, and then — when you engage him — suddenly remember he’s still young enough for little bursts of play. A wand toy appears? He is ready. Catnip? Passionate enthusiast. Snacks? Deeply committed.

He enjoys the simple hobbies:
• Bird and squirrel watching on his personal cat TV projector
• Supervising household activities
• Quiet companionship
• Accepting admiration
• Being extremely food-motivated in a very dignified way

Meepers doesn’t demand attention — he earns it by simply existing near you, softly meeping, reminding you that peace can purr.

After everything he went through, he didn’t harden.
He just decided humans were still worth trusting.

If your home could use a calm soul, a soft chirp, and a pair of perfectly round cheeks greeting you every day…
Meepers has already decided he’s ready to love you.

Meepers is estimated to be about 6 years old as of Jan 26. He is fully vetted: spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and flea-free. She tested negative for FeLV and positive for FIV.

The FIV Thing:
Okay, here’s the deal: Meepers is FIV-positive (that's Feline Immunodeficiency Virus for those who don't speak cat). But here’s the good news—he’s not contagious to humans or other cats unless they're very aggressive. So don't let that scare you. Meepers is living his best life, and with some high-quality food, regular checkups, and a bunch of love, he's got many more purr-filled years ahead of him.

Questions? info@littlelivesatl.org

Facts over Fear - Understanding FIV cats: Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, also known as FIV, is a virus commonly found in cats worldwide. FIV is not typically fatal for cats, and positive cats can live healthy lives. FIV+ cats can face a compromised immune system, but with regular annual exams and medical care they can live long lives. FIV+ and non FIV+ cats can live together as long as they get along well and are comfortable sharing space. FIV does not require any special medications or diets and can only be spread to other cats through mating or deep bite wounds
