More about this rescue

One Dog Arizona is a non profit, 501C3 dog rescue which started 15 years ago to help local dogs on the shelter’s euthanasia lists. We are a small volunteer based organization, which believes all dogs have value and a family that would be perfect for them, if only given a chance.

Our dogs are housed in foster homes throughout Arizona, where they are socialized and taught the important house manners which necessary for living happily, with their humans.
We are a FORCE FREE RESCUE. We do not allow our adopters or anyone else—such as a dog trainer, to use any aversive tools such as a prong collar, choke collar, shock collar, chain collar, halti collar, etc. We do not allow the use of a spray bottle, or can of pennies, the alpha roll, leash corrections, or any such technique that may hurt or harm the dog. These methods force a dog into submission. They do not teach the dog how to behave. And these methods fade been proven to hurt the human/canine bond.
We strive to educate our adopters on training best practices, that empower both human & canine to build a strong bond through trust building, & scientifically proven positive training techniques.

We are always looking for both foster families to house and care for our dogs, while they await a forever family and volunteers to help network and care for our dogs while they attend adoption events.

Donations of any kind are greatly appreciated and needed. Exercise pens, dog toys, harnesses and food/treats are always needed. As is hand sanitizer--to help keep our dogs healthy--and spray bleach to keep their crates clean.

One Dog Arizona is a 501c-3 charitable organization serving the Phoenix Metropolitan area of Arizona. We are dedicated to saving dogs who are on the euthanasia lists in local Arizona shelters, as well as owner surrenders when we can. Your adoption package includes: Parvo/distemper vaccine (3 for puppies); Rabies vaccine; spay/neuter; microchip, heartworm test; 6 mths of heartworm preventative meds, We provide a bag of puppy or dog food to each adoptive family to help get their new pet off to a good start. We provide support—before, during, & after the adoption process.
