My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunny is a shy gerbil who loves to run on his wheel and beg for snacks. His favorite treats are sunflower seeds and peas. He and his friend Cloud are a bit nervous when it comes to meeting new humans, but Sunny warms up to people once he's used to them. Sunny and Cloud are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Cloud has glaucoma, a chronic eye condition, so he and Sunny need an adopter who can administer Cloud's eye drops twice a day and provide him with veterinary care. If you are interested in adopting Sunny and Cloud, please contact us at gerbils@smallangelsrescue.org. All of our gerbils have an adoption fee of $25 per gerbil.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Small Angels Rescue’s adoption process is straightforward. Adopters must fill out an adoption application. Once we have the completed application, we interview the adopter by phone or e-mail to clear up any questions and concerns about the application—including whether the adopter meets our habitat requirements and has the proper supplies—and to ensure that the adopter has all of the information needed to properly care for the animal. At the time of adoption, adopters must sign an adoption contract.

Please reach out to info@smallangelsrescue.org for information about adopting one of our animals.

Small Angels Rescue does not have a physical shelter; rather we care for animals through our network of foster care homes. As such, adoptions are scheduled by appointment only at times and locations agreed upon by the rescue and the adopter.

More about this rescue

Small Angels was founded in fall of 2003 when the organizers recognized a need for a group to help small animals abandoned at animal shelters. The Rescue was founded as a way to move these animals into foster homes for socialization and proper, attentive care, as well as streamline the adoption process and provide accurate, thorough information to adopters about these often misunderstood animals.

Small Angels is a 501(3)(3) nonprofit, no-kill, all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, mice, and gerbils. Animals are acquired directly via public surrenders and from local shelters and animal welfare groups. We use an extensive network of foster homes to care for the animals until we can find them a forever home.
