My name is Belle!

Belle is a sweet, affectionate girl around 5 years old who is just beginning to discover how good life can be. She came to us from a difficult hoarding situation in California and was understandably terrified at first. She didn’t leave her pen for a week. Since then, she has made beautiful progress and now happily explores the house and even zooms around with joy.

Belle is extremely cuddly and bonds deeply with her person. She loves to be right by your side and loves to snuggle. She adores toys, is learning to play fetch, and has the softest, most loving heart.

Because of her past, Belle is still working through some fears. She is scared of the outdoors and is struggling with potty training. She will go outside but often feels too nervous to focus enough to go potty. She does well on a leash but can become overwhelmed, and when frightened (such as during leash time or with new people), she may submissively pee. With patience, routine, and continued confidence-building, she has so much potential to keep improving.

Belle does well around other small dogs, isn’t bothered by them, and mostly ignores cats (with the occasional chase). She would likely do best in a calm, quiet home without young children, with someone who understands shy dogs and is willing to move at her pace.

Belle is incredibly sweet, loving, and deserving of a safe, patient home where she can continue to heal and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.
