Sophee is a stunning 7-year old calico beauty with a heart as colorful as her coat. This sweet girl once had a loving home, but when her owner lost her job and had to move into shared housing, she was heartbroken to learn she couldn’t bring Sophee along. Through no fault of her own, Sophee found herself in a shelter, confused and grieving the loss of everything she knew. Sophee seemed to think she had done something wrong, and she became very depressed – retreating to the back of her cage, closing her eyes to the world, and refusing to eat. Each day she appeared to shrink a little more, quietly giving up. But Sophee’s story didn’t end there. When she entered foster care, she was fragile and shut down – hunkered in a bathtub for comfort, drooling from stress and even losing some of her beautiful fur due to anxiety. She still wouldn’t eat. Yet, with patience, gentle brushing, soft words and steady love, something began to change. On the fifth day, Sophee nibbled a little food. Then she lifted a paw and batted a toy mouse. It was the smallest gesture – but it was hope. Today, Sophee is thriving. She has blossomed back into the delightful, affectionate companion she was always meant to be. She loves to walk between your legs as if to remind you that she’s there, sit beside you for quiet company and simply be near her people. She adores batting around toy mice and soft balls – so be sure to keep a good supply on hand for Her Majesty! A daily serving of wet food also wins her heart. Sophee tolerates dogs but would truly prefer not to share her kingdom with other cats. She would be happiest as the one and only feline - Queen of her castle, adored and cherished as she deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has known loss but chosen love again, Sophee is ready to give her whole heart to a forever home.
