My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SENIOR ALERT AND DE-CLAWED! Can you find it in your heart to adopt a gorgeous long haired senior lady looking to spend her golden years laying in the sun, cuddled up on your couch? Miss Priss is de-clawed, so she can only go to a home where she will be in indoor princess. She is a bit timid being at the shelter at her age and will need time to adjust to her new home. Please come meet her today!

More about this shelter

Friends of DeKalb County-AL Animal Adoption Center is a 501c3, non profit, all volunteer, foster based rescue and not the shelter staff.

Our mission is to improve visibility and increase awareness of the countless number of abandoned, homeless animals located in the DeKalb County-AL Animal Shelter, with the ultimate goal being to unite these deserving animals with the perfect family to call their own.

Whether it be by finding adopters for homeless animals, reuniting lost pets with their owners or increasing community awareness about important issues, our volunteers are dedicated to being a voice for the animals in our area that are in need.

However, we can not do this alone. There are numerous ways that you can help in this effort, including volunteering, educating, donating, fostering a pet until it is adopted and sharing pictures of animals that are posted on our page.

The list of ways to help is endless and can be tailored to meet whatever your needs may be.

For those of you interested in making a monetary donation, please send your donation via Paypal to friendsofdcaac@gmail.com.

Any donations are greatly appreciated and can truly save lives.
