Barley (born around August of 2025) is a small mixed breed who was transferred to Safe Haven from the municipal shelter after being picked up as a stray. He is social and friendly with both other dogs and people, and he has seemingly boundless energy and excitement. He loves to go for walks with our volunteers, play with other dogs, and search for treats in our ball pit. Barley is looking for an active forever family who can manage his energy level and will be patient with him as he learns the rules of living in a home.

Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary (SHAS) is a no-kill, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 1996, and is the largest and longest-running no-kill facility in the Las Cruces, NM area. SHAS provides medical care, food, shelter and comfort to nearly 90 homeless cats and dogs of our community, while seeking caring homes for them.
