My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete  an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at www.rescuecrew.org.

Hey friend, I'm Tess! I'm a 2-3 year old Pyrenese doodle mix! I'm a big girl with an even bigger heart! I'm looking for a family to call my own after wandering as a stray a few hours from the cities. I love outside adventures with my humans but I do not want to live in the elements. I much prefer a warm home with a bed of my own. I will sleep pretty much anywhere, floor, dog bed, couch if you'll let me... but if you're looking for a giant teddy bear to snuggle with in bed at night I am your dog! I love to wrap my paws around my people and soak up the love. So far I have been a dream in my foster home. I am fully housebroken with no accidents. I have been left alone while the people go to work and I am a good girl sleeping the day away while I await their return. Sometimes I play with stuffy toys, the crinkly ones seem to be my favorite right now. I am very food motivated and a quick learner. I already know "sit," "shake," and "down." I get along with other dogs and cats. I can be a little bossy with other dogs and have been known to attempt to herd my foster sister but we also have fun wrestling outside. I get sad when I am not the center of attention and will whimper and whine some, but I settle pretty quickly if you are busy. I also bark occasionally. Looking for a family to shower with my love and affection, if that sounds like you please submit an application! I am currently residing in the St. Paul area with my foster.

Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.

The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.

Additional adoption info

We want to be sure that the adoption process is as smooth and positive an experience as possible. Our animals are in foster homes and we do everything we can to learn as much about their likes and dislikes, temperament and activity level as we can while in our care. By doing so, it enables us to work more closely with a potential adopter to help ensure a "good fit." The adoption process might take a bit longer than adopting from a shelter, but our ultimate goal is finding a match that benefits not just the animal, but also the family interested in adopting.

We are looking to let our adopters chose the speed of the adoption process. To start the process, we require that an adoption application be completed. Once submitted, we will connect with you to discuss the type of animal you're looking for, your lifestyle and home environment, and what the best fit may be. At times, we may request to conduct a home visit, which can often be done in tandem with what we refer to a "meet and greet" where you have the opportunity to meet and interact with the animal(s) you're interested in adopting. Ad part of our process we conduct background check on all applicants, will check personal and vet references also. Our goal is always the proper placement for any adopted animal, which may mean that the animal you originally are interested in may turn out to not be the best fit, but we will work with you to find a better match. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering of all animals, age appropriate vaccinations ad microchipping and range anywhere from $80-$175 for cats and $200-$450 for dogs.

Prior to finalizing adoptions we require a signed Contract & Agreement which includes an understanding that if for any reason the animal does not work out that you will return them back to The Rescue Crew.

The Rescue Crew is a foster-based rescue organization, but also manages The PURRfect Match Cat Adoption Center, which houses a small number of cats for adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a fully volunteer-run, foster-based rescue serving Minnesota with one purpose: to bring hope — and a second chance — to dogs and cats who have nowhere else to turn.
Our work begins in overcrowded local shelters, where animals face overwhelming odds, and continues in reservation communities where resources for pets are scarce.

We believe every companion pet deserves kindness, healing, and a family that sees their worth.

OUR MISSION: We save the lives of companion animals in need — including those who are homeless, abandoned, neglected, or at risk.
Through compassion, kindness, and care, we help them heal and thrive, ultimately becoming cherished family members in loving homes.

OUR VISION: We envision a world where every adoptable dog and cat has the chance to find a responsible, loving home opportunity to find a responsible, loving home — a world where no animal is mistreated, abandoned, or forgotten.
