My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TL;DR – Holstein & Jersey at a Glance

  • Bonded pair – must be adopted together

  • About 6.5 months old

  • Raised indoors with people, cats, and dogs

  • Holstein = baby-mode cuddlebug + FIP warrior (done with meds Dec 28)

  • Jersey = food-obsessed chaos goblin with the loudest purr

  • They sleep in your bed. Non-negotiable.

  • Main character energy. Not background cats.

  • Did we mention they’re a package deal? Just making sure.

  • Available to adopt after March 23rd

Holstein

A.K.A. Baby Mode Activated
Holstein is your emotionally available cuddlebug. He will gaze into your soul, melt into your arms like butter in a skillet, and fall asleep like a literal baby. He comes when called, takes his meds in Churu like a pro, and loves being held more than anything.

Right now, Holstein is completing treatment for FIP - but he’s responding like a champ and finishes his treatment on December 28. He’s a living miracle wrapped in black-and-white fluff, and the easiest patient you'll ever meet.

(Also, he's part of a bonded pair. Did we mention that yet?)

Jersey

A.K.A. The Chest Jumper/Food Goblin/Chaos Engine
Jersey has the loudest purr of any kitten we’ve ever fostered — and he’s not afraid to use it. Usually at 3am. By leaping directly onto your chest. It’s terrifying and adorable in equal measure. Jersey isn’t a “hold me” kind of guy — he’s got missions to complete and laps to ambush.

He will do anything for snacks — and let’s just say he’s not skipping meals. His zoomies shake the floorboards. His wrestling matches with the other foster kittens could qualify as an Olympic sport. He’s not subtle, but he is sweet.

You’re still reading, right? Because this is a both-or-nothing situation. Jersey comes with Holstein. Holstein comes with Jersey. It’s a buy-one, get-one purr-fest.

Their Relationship

Holstein and Jersey are best friends, soulmates, and stunt doubles. They:

  • Sleep in kitten pretzel piles

  • Groom each other constantly

  • Stampede through the house like “tiny buffalo”

  • Share food (mostly), toys (begrudgingly), and humans (insistently)

They’re respectful with other cats, too — even Mooshka, the resident queen who barely tolerates peasantry. They leave her alone and save their rowdy antics for more willing participants, like the young male cat they rumble with daily.

And then there’s the dog. The young golden retriever loves to poke at them. They play back — until it’s too much, then dash off, only to return minutes later. They’ve even been spotted spooning the dog. It took time to build that trust, but now? Full cuddle diplomacy.

Must-Have Home Features

  • Humans who let them sleep in the bedroom.
These boys were raised WITH their people. Banning them from bedtime will hurt their feelings (and possibly your sleep).

  • Feather wands on standby.
Once Holstein catches the feather, it’s his. Indefinitely.

  • A snack plan.
Jersey will literally cut you off in traffic to get to the food bowl first. And honestly? Holstein’s not far behind.

  • Room for two.
Emotionally. Logistically. Physically. These kittens go together.

A Quick Note About FIP

FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) used to be considered fatal. Fortunately for Holstein, not anymore. Holstein is nearly done with treatment and is expected to live a completely normal life — no special care needed after December 28. We’re happy to walk you through what that means and provide support during the transition.

Why Adopt Them?

Because they’re not just kittens. They’re an experience.

  • They’re the sound of joy galloping upstairs.

  • They’re warm weight beside you at night.

  • They’re laughter, affection, and completely ridiculous antics.

  • They’re the main quest — and they’re ready for their forever home...after Dec 28th.

Age/DOB: 5-4-2025

I am neutered, tested negative for FIV/ FeLV, microchipped, dewormed, treated with Revolution, and am up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines.

More about this rescue

Purrs & Whiskers, Inc. is a non-profit organization serving Stafford, Virginia and its surrounding areas whose mission is to employ the best practices of the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) philosophy and for those deemed adoptable, we provide temporary foster care while actively seeking a loving permanent living situation. This is accomplished by providing compassion, daily nourishment, and basic wellness care for both individual cats, as well as colonies of free-roaming, homeless cats living outdoors. When feasible, we will collaborate with local shelters in an effort to relieve over-crowding by identifying and adopting out shelter cats into appropriate, permanent living situations.
