This helps BAMM Rescue - Tigard, OR Foster with pet care costs.
Dante is the kind of dog people walk past without realizing what they are missing.
He is a middle aged German Shepherd mix, gentle, calm, and quietly hopeful. While others bark for attention, Dante waits. When someone stops, he leans in softly, takes treats with care, and asks for affection with his eyes. He is friendly, polite, and deeply human-oriented, the kind of dog who bonds quickly once given a chance.
Dante came into the shelter as a stray and was neutered just a few short weeks ago. He has fully recovered from his surgery, yet now the shelter has placed him on the euthanasia list simply because he developed a mild, treatable upper respiratory infection. The very same institution that used resources to neuter him has decided his life is expendable.
Dante is tucked away in a kennel at the very end of the row, easy to miss. He is not a puppy, and because of that, he has been overlooked again and again. But middle aged dogs like Dante are often the best companions. They are settled, affectionate, and grateful in a way that is hard to describe unless you have known one.
