My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Queenie is sponsored by Harlow

👑 Meet Queenie — A True Gentle Royal 👑

Queenie is the kind of dog who reminds you what unconditional love really means. This sweet girl has already done one of the hardest jobs there is — she embraced motherhood with quiet strength — and now it’s her turn to be cared for, cherished, and treated like the royalty she is.

Estimated to be around one year old, Queenie is a mixed breed (likely an American Pit Bull mix) with a sensitive, tender nature. She is fearful of men and shy with women at first, and the world can feel overwhelming to her. Because of this, Queenie is looking for a calm, adult-only home, where there are no children and life moves at a gentle, predictable pace.

With patience, kindness, and a soft approach, Queenie slowly opens her heart — and when she does, the bond she forms is incredibly meaningful. She thrives with calm voices, gentle hands, and people who understand that trust takes time and is worth every moment of waiting. Once Queenie decides you’re safe, her true personality shines — she becomes a classic Velcro pittie, happiest pressed close to her person and soaking up every ounce of love.

Queenie deserves a home filled with warmth, understanding, and compassion — a place where she can finally exhale and learn that she is safe. She has already given so much love; now she needs someone willing to give it back to her tenfold.

If you believe the most beautiful relationships are built slowly, with empathy and care, Queenie may be the queen you’ve been waiting to serve. 💛

If you are interested in meeting Queenie, the shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11am – 5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm (Winter Hours).

We are receiving multiple applications on every pet. If we do not call you to do an adoption, please do not consider it a rejection. We simply have a lot of applications coming in and very limited staff.
Adoption Applications do not place holds on pets, nor do we do pre-adoptions.
Rather than doing first-come-first-serve adoptions, Newberg Animal Shelter considers all applications and chooses the home that is the best fit for that particular pet. We want the adoptions to be happy and successful for the family and the pets.
Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, and at least their first set of vaccines, and microchip.
