My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you were to meet Johnny before hearing his story, you would be shocked at how sweet he is. This boy was part of a large hoarding-case rescue from Mississippi where 200 dogs were found roaming one property. He came in shy and shut down, unwilling to come out of his kennel. He has slowly built up confidence and approaches new people eagerly. He is still learning a lot about what life should be like and there are many things that are new to him, like riding in a car.

Johnny has been living it up in a foster home and has done fantastically well with his foster siblings. He loves snuggling on the couch, tossing toys in the air and wrestling with the other dogs. He attaches quickly to his people and loves them wholeheartedly. He has remarkable, not perfect, home manners. With structure and routine, he will blossom into a fully-adjusted household companion.

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
