Luna is a 4-year-old husky described by her family as calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet. She is well mannered in the home and enjoys a nice balance of activity and relaxation. Luna loves spending time outside, whether it’s exploring the yard or going for a walk, and then is happiest cuddled up on the couch with her people.
She has lived with children as young as 10 and has done well. Luna thrives with a steady routine and appreciates a peaceful home where she can feel secure. While she enjoys getting fresh air and exercise, she also settles nicely and is content to relax by your side at the end of the day.
Luna needs to be the only dog in her home. She does not seek out trouble and prefers to ignore other dogs, but she is uncomfortable when they get in her space and may react if they push her boundaries. In a home where she can be the sole pet and enjoy her own space, Luna is a loyal and affectionate companion.

#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.
(Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.

All adult dog adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations
- heartworm test
-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-microchip implanted & registered to adopter
-treatment of fleas & ticks
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
