My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grackle is an outgoing and affectionate cuddle puddle who is enraptured by lap time and chin scritchies! Grackle resembles his namesake bird with his jet black coat and bright yellow eyes, and his silly squawking vocalizations.

Grackle sometimes struggles with his manners and will give gentle love nibbles when he’s happy, or bops to demand attention. He'd do best with a cat-savvy adopter and a home without young children and other animals. Grackle can get overstimulated, but considerately gives clear signals when it is time to redirect his attentions to a toy.

Grackle has tested positive for FIV. He is also on a special urinary support diet and is taking a couple of easy anxiety medications. More information on FIV an be found below, and our staff is happy to chat with anyone that wants to know more about Grackle's diet and medications! If you'd like more information about adopting Grackle, you can email adoptions@phillypaws.org!

------------------------------------

This cat has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which is specific to the felines and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. Cats with FIV can live normal, happy, healthy lives, but the virus can weaken a cat's immune system. FIV is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered, so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting. Our staff will be happy to tell you more about FIV, and you can learn more about FIV here: phillypaws.org/fiv
