My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thunder has been living in a foster home, but will be at the shelter starting 02/13! Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours!

Thunder came to Heartland when his owner passed away unexpectedly. He had lived in that home his whole life, and he has the manners to prove it. Thunder is so easy to have in the house. He walks on a loose leash, is housebroken, and pretty quiet for a husky!

Thunder was adopted as a puppy from a husky breeder, and his owner adopted a dog named Ganache from us when Thunder was about 5. When a family member reached out to us to see if we would take them both after she passed away, we were more than happy to help.

Thunder went to a foster home right away, and his foster had nothing but glowing reviews. He is polite, housebroken, and quiet. He gives a sweet howl when you come home to let you know how happy he is to see you. He has a bit of a limp that we are treating, but it doesn't stop him. Which is great, since Thunder does need to lose quite a bit of weight. Sadly, his previous owner was mobility challenged herself, and Thunder is obese, but he is slowly working off those LBs! The best thing we can do for Thunder's health is to get him to a healthy weight. He is otherwise healthy, and even recently had a dental cleaning with our vet.

Thunder does stairs like a champ, and has lived in both a condo and a single family home and does well in both. He is housebroken, and In his most recent foster home, he figured out the doggy door in no time. He is such a smart boy. He loves strolls around the neighborhood, and is so easy to walk-- he keeps a loose leash the whole time and doesn't react to anything! Thunder is affectionate, but not needy. He just likes being by people and being pet, but he's totally OK with just sitting next to you while you do your thing.

We know there are lots of husky people out there, and Thunder is a perfect specimen. We have been trying to shower him with affection, but the best thing for him is to be someone's best boy again, that's what he's used to. If you are looking for a nice, calm companion to take slow walks with and cuddle with while you watch TV, inquire about him today!

Thunder’s adoption fee is sponsored! This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
