My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet The Little Rascals — Darla, Alfalfa, and Spanky — three tiny fighters with huge personalities.
This trio lost their mama at just 4 days old. We first learned about them when they were nearly 2 weeks old and took them in right away. Raising bottle babies is a round-the-clock labor of love, and because of that, these three share an especially strong bond with their foster mom — she’s truly their safe place.
Now 4 weeks old, they’re thriving, and we are officially accepting pre-adoption applications.
They are absolutely living up to their name. We’ve graduated from tube feeding and bottles to lick mats and now their very own bowls. The transition has been… messy… but they’re learning fast and diving in with enthusiasm.
Each pup is already showing off a big personality:
Alfalfa demands post-meal snuggles. His favorite place is tucked up by your neck where he can melt into a nap like the cuddle champion he is.
Spanky believes every arm is secretly a bottle that must be nursed after meals — hilarious considering he once needed tube feeding. These days he eats like a pro and is always first in line for seconds.
Darla is our tiny independent queen. After eating, she supervises her brothers, explores her surroundings, and then crashes hard for a power nap.
They’re messy, loud, affectionate, and hitting every puppy milestone right on schedule. Watching them grow has been pure joy — and they’re only just getting started.
If you’re ready to welcome one of these little rascals into your family, now’s the time to apply. We are currently accepting pre-adoption applications!

Additional adoption info

Our main goal is always to find the very best fit for each of our animals. We take time to get to know every pet in our care—their personalities, needs, and quirks—so we can help match them with the right family.

When you apply to adopt, here’s what you can expect:

Application Review: We carefully look over every application to be sure the home environment matches the pet’s needs.

Conversations, Not Tests: We may ask follow-up questions or chat with you about your lifestyle, schedule, and what you’re hoping for in a pet. This helps us make the best match possible.

Meet & Greet: If it seems like a good fit, we’ll arrange a meeting so you and the animal can get to know each other.

Adoption Agreement: Once approved, we’ll finalize the adoption paperwork and review everything you need to know to help your new pet adjust and thrive.

Our animals have already been through a lot, so we want their next stop to be their forever home. Thank you for understanding that we are always looking out for their best interest—and for opening your heart to adoption.

More about this rescue

At Valley Dog Rescue of Texas, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to giving abandoned, neglected, and abused animals a second chance at life. Based in the Valley of South Texas, we work tirelessly to rescue dogs who have been forgotten, mistreated, or left behind.

Every animal that comes into our care receives the medical treatment they need, the patience and compassion to heal emotionally, and the opportunity to experience love and safety—often for the very first time. Our ultimate goal is to match each rescued dog with a permanent, loving home where they can truly thrive.

We believe that every life matters and that no animal is beyond hope. Through the dedication of our volunteers, fosters, adopters, and supporters, we are able to transform lives, one rescue at a time.
