My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Ohio, a handsome 10-year-old Shepherd blend boy weighing in at 55 pounds of pure sweetness.  With my good manners, love of cuddles and relaxed style, I’m going for the gold!

Favorite Things: Ohio loves strolls around the neighborhood and breezy car rides.  But don’t worry, this sweet boy is just as happy lounging like a pro on the couch. Independence is his vibe, but when it comes to cuddles, he is truly a gold medalist! Toys? Meh. He’d rather hang out with you and soak up all the love.

Training & Manners: Ohio is house trained when let out regularly. His leash skills are impressive and he handles car rides like a champ.  This fine gentleman brings his winning house manners and laid back approach to life and loves curling up on the people bed at night for sweet dreams and snuggles.

Health & Care: Ohio is neutered, heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and recently had a dental cleaning.  He’ll just need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. No fancy salon visits required - a bath, a brush, and a nail trim and he’s ready for his close-up.

Other Animals: Ohio has experience with dogs of all sizes, as well as cats, and gets high marks for cooperation and boundaries.

Children: Easygoing and gentle, Ohio is a great companion for older children who know how to treat a gentle senior with respect.

Ideal Home: Ohio is flexible—he will happily call an apartment, townhome, condo, or single family house his castle. If you need to step out for a few hours, he’ll hold down the fort until you return.

Overall: If you’re looking for an independent, affectionate pooch to bring the love, Ohio might be the one for you.  If you think he might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $275.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
