Meet Taeyang
Gentle, loyal, and quietly blossoming.
Name: Taeyang
Age: 1 year
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Jindo Mix
Color: Ivory
Weight: 17.5 kg
Height (shoulder): 53 cm
Rescue Story
In December 2024, a pregnant stray mother gave birth to three puppies at an abandoned gas station. Local residents provided food and basic care after receiving trapping assistance from an animal group.
When redevelopment began and the gas station was scheduled for demolition, the entire family was rescued on March 17.
At the end of July, the three puppies entered the AKR Center. They were initially very timid, so they have undergone consistent socialization and training over the past six months. One sibling(Gureum) has already been adopted, and Taeyang is now ready to find his forever home
With People
Taeyang can be a little shy at first, but he warms up quickly — especially with treats. Once he feels comfortable, he becomes very affectionate and will happily bounce around showing his playful side.
Because he can feel anxious in new environments, he needs a patient introduction period when arriving somewhere new. However, thanks to about six months of structured training, he knows basic commands like sit and wait. Using calm guidance and treat rewards helps him build trust very smoothly.
He has been comfortable with both women and men during training.
He has not been tested with children under 13.
He allows handling, can be lifted by placing an arm under his belly, and once bonded, will even show his belly for rubs
With Other Dogs
Taeyang is friendly and sociable. He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and invite play.
He generally prefers dogs of similar size and can feel overwhelmed by very high-energy dogs. Even when another dog challenges him, he tends to avoid conflict. There is one particular dog that barks intensely at him; he will avoid and tolerate repeatedly, and may respond once if pushed — overall showing a very gentle temperament.
With Cats
When seeing cats on walks, he stays focused on his handler and may even feel unsure around them. He does not display prey drive.
Energy Level
Moderate energy.
He enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly after exercise.
Walks
He initially had a leash resistance, so leash training was introduced gradually and gently.
Now, in quiet areas like parks, he walks very well and comfortably eliminates outdoors. On busier roads with heavy traffic or crowds, he may hesitate slightly. Walking with unfamiliar people may take a little extra time for adjustment.
Additional Notes
• Has food motivation but does not guard food from people or other dogs
• No separation anxiety, but since he has always lived around other dogs, he may feel some initial unease if left completely alone
• Rarely barks, but may bark if frightened by a stranger
• Has ridden in cars but is still a bit nervous about getting in and needs to be gently lifted
• Currently eliminates outdoors; tends to go once he is familiar with the walking route
Taeyang is a soft-hearted, gentle boy who has blossomed beautifully with patience and consistent guidance. He will thrive in a calm, understanding home that gives him time to build confidence.
If you are looking for a loyal companion who will quietly grow alongside you, Taeyang may be your perfect match
