Tigger is a 2-year-old Goldendoodle who came to our shelter after being surrendered due to having too many pets. Her previous owner shared that Tigger has lived with other dogs, but has not lived with cats or children.
Tigger is a very timid and unsocialized girl who finds the shelter environment overwhelming. She has not shown any aggression within her fear, she just shuts down. Tigger does show promise when outside of the kennel environment and within a quieter calmer area. She does not immediately become social and playful like some of her former house mates, but she is certainly more open to socializing once in a quiet area.
She becomes stressed when being leashed and currently refuses to walk on a leash. Tigger is initially shy, nervous, often avoids eye contact, and appears confused by new situations and expectations.
Because of this, Tigger will need an adopter who is extremely patient, calm, and understanding—someone willing to go at her pace and commit to positive training and gentle socialization. With consistency, kindness, and time, Tigger has the potential to gain confidence and learn that the world can be a safe and loving place.
Tigger would do best in a home with an experienced adopter who understands fearful dogs and is dedicated to helping her build trust.
If you have the patience and heart to help a shy dog blossom, Tigger may be waiting just for you. 🐾💙
