My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chai is a sweet, gentle, and well-behaved cat who enjoys being in the same area as you. He quickly warms up and enjoys attention and pets, and he likes to snuggle by you when you are resting. Chai enjoys napping and comes out regularly to see what you are doing and to look at the birds. He doesn’t ask for much, just a loving home, cozy spots to sleep, and gentle affection.

Chai is sensitive to unknown noises and rapid movements, but is easily reassured that everything is fine, and quickly comes back for soft pets. He likes being brushed, leans in for head rubs, and softly meows when he wants to jump up and be with you.

Chai is looking for a quiet home with adults and older children and no other pets, with someone who works part-time or full-time from home, as he is social. He is looking for his forever family to share lots of quality time, gentle play, and companionship.

Submit Application

Before submitting an application, we ask that you review the information on cat care and our policies here: https://www.vokra.ca/adopt

2.
Interview

Our adoption counsellors focus on educating our adopters on cat care. Once approved, they use a matching process to find your perfect pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

When you find a kitty you like, you will arrange an appointment with the foster home - where the kitty feels most comfortable and confident.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Our adoptions contract process includes reviewing critical cat care information and providing contacts for post-adoption advice.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Woo hoo! You will be expected to take the kitty to a free post-adoption vet check within 2 weeks, and follow up on any required vet care.

Additional adoption info

Each year more than 1,400 cats and kittens are adopted through VOKRA. We're always here after the adoption if you need ongoing advice.

Response times can vary, depending on the time of year and available volunteer resources. Applications and help requests for non-emergency issues will usually receive a response in 1-3 days.
