My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on April 24, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Pop Tart, a smart guy with a fun-loving personality and a curious nose that's always ready to explore! Pop Tart loves sniffing around, never turns down a treat and is a big fan of belly rubs. Impressively, he will happily sit for treats without even being asked, and staff describe him as a "fast learner" who picks things up quickly. Pop Tart was very shy and fearful when he arrived to our care, and has been working with our trainers to build confidence. It has been a joy to see his playful and affectionate personality blossom over time! He will thrive best with adopters who can offer him patience to open up at his pace and continue his positive reinforcement training. He has leash-phobia, so he will need an enclosed area for potty breaks. With his smarts and sweet nature, Pop Tart is sure to be a delightful companion - come meet him today!

At SDHS:
Pop Tart has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Pop Tart is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
