Josh sustained significant trauma to his penis as a young kitten due to suckling from his littermates, which prevented him from urinating normally. He underwent a perineal urethrostomy, a surgery that removes the penis and creates a larger urethral opening. He has healed well and is urinating normally now.
Because this surgery shortens the urethra and widens the opening, he has a higher risk of bladder infections. A veterinarian may recommend periodic urine cultures based on his needs. Rarely, strictures can form at the surgery site and block urine flow. Watch for signs such as straining with little to no urine, repeatedly entering the litterbox, or vocalizing while trying to urinate. If any of these occur, seek veterinary care promptly.

Our pets are currently in foster homes as well as we have a program with the local women's prison. With the prison the animals live in the room with the inmate handler and receive socialization and training. We have just recently added dogs to our program with the prison. Generally the pets are brought to our office for their meet and greets and adoptions. We also partner with Ziggy's Cat Lounge in Bremerton for our cats and kittens.

Currently we are all foster as we don't have a shelter yet, but we have a 5 acre parcel we are going to build a shelter on. We have started the planning process with Shelter Planners of America.
