My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Plover, a senior cat who appreciates polite greetings before petting and those who are able to understand when I need a little break. Here in my cozy corner, I savor every treat and cherish each moment of affection. I might be shy at first, but give me a little time and I'll warm up, showing you my affectionate and gentle nature. My days are simple, filled with peaceful naps and moments waiting for a family to call my own. I'm not a big fan of being picked up and held, but value spending time lounging next to you. Loud noises and sudden movements can make me a little uneasy, so I'm looking for a peaceful home where I can learn the true meaning of zen. If you're looking for a companion who respects space but deeply values love, I'm your perfect match. Let's share the sweet, simple joys of life together. Why not come meet me? I'm ready to be part of your tranquil home.

More about this shelter

Established in 1929, Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) offers quality adoptions, affordable spaying/neutering, vaccinations and microchipping services, pet care services and education programs to enhance the human-animal bond. HSSV operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are the first organization in the country to meet the guidelines put forth by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians for standards of care for shelter animals: We are the first model shelter.

We are also the first animal community center in the nation to receive Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Our mission is to save lives, keep families together, and create a better future for pets and their people.

Our vision is a world where all animals can thrive, all people experience the magic of the human-animal bond, and all families are able to care for their pets.
