My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Meet Roo! Roo is 5 year old, Spaniel mix who was surrendered to our incredible  rescue partner Saving Shelter Strays. He   is in a loving TX foster home while waiting for his ride to the PNW and is healthy and thriving.

Foster Update:  This tiny little lady may only weigh 7 pounds, but her heart is enormous! Roo’s favorite place in the world is a warm lap, and once she settles into her new home, she will be your loyal shadow, following you from room to room and happily curling up with you every chance she gets.

Roo will need a little time to decompress and feel safe in a new environment. With patience, consistency, and a predictable routine, she blossoms into a devoted and loving companion who looks to her person for comfort and guidance.

She is crate trained and doing wonderfully with potty training when given regular opportunities to go outside. Roo walks on leash, but because she can get startled by loud noises, a slip lead will be important to keep her safe. She’s still nervous in the car and will need a secure, cozy spot while riding.

Roo gets along with other dogs and would even enjoy having a canine buddy to snuggle with at night. She is more comfortable being crated with another dog, though she can sleep alone, she may just fuss a bit at first. A home without cats is best, as she does like to chase them.

Like many small dogs, Roo can be a little protective of what she loves most. She may growl if another dog approaches while she’s on your lap, and she prefers not to share her food with other animals. With clear, consistent boundaries and gentle guidance, this behavior could improve over time.

Roo is a sweet little dog in a tiny package who will quickly work her way into your heart. If you’re looking for a devoted cuddle companion who just needs a little patience to shine, Roo might be your perfect match.
