My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gideon - Your Gentle Guardian & Cuddle Companion 🐾
Gideon is a 3‑year‑old male Akbash with a heart as big as his beautiful, fluffy frame. True to his breed, he carries himself with a calm, noble presence-yet the moment he sees you, his whole body lights up with joy. This sweet boy is always excited to greet his people and absolutely soaks up attention and affection.
Akbash dogs are known for being gentle, loyal guardians, and Gideon is no exception. He's looking for a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe and secure-somewhere he can lay his head, relax, and finally just be home.
Despite his majestic size, Gideon is a softie through and through. He loves being close to his humans, enjoys calm companionship, and appreciates a slow, steady approach to life. He'll reward you with a deep, loyal bond and those tender "thank you" eyes that only a grateful pup can give.
Gideon Would Love a Home With:

A calm, predictable environment
A family who enjoys quiet moments as much as he does
People who understand that guardian breeds thrive with love, patience, and routine
A comfy bed-or better yet, a spot on the couch next to you

If you're looking for a devoted companion who will adore you wholeheartedly, Gideon might just be your perfect match. Come meet this lovely boy and let him show you how gentle, sweet, and loyal an Akbash can truly be. 💛

The Chilliwack Branch is an Animal Protection Centre for pets who have been rescued from abusive or neglectful homes. The Centre is open to the public by appointment only due to the security issues associated with housing animals awaiting the outcome of legal proceedings. We will accept surrendered animals by appointment only, and we are open for adoptions on special occasions.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
