My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

? Approximate Age: 10 months
? Breed: Belgian Malinois Terrier Mix
? Weight: 35 lbs
? Any impairments: (Neurological) mild case of Cerebellar Hyperplasia
? Potty trained? Pee pads – she is happy to go outside but hasn't been able to hold it overnight yet. She is very quiet and seems to sleep thru the night. Doesn’t go to the door herself yet
? Crate trained: Yes
? Good with other dogs: yes
? Good with cats: Unknown, she is good with her 11lb foster sibling and always wants to play
? Good with kids? Unkown, she is losing her sharp puppy teeth

? Commands known: sit & “no”- she re-directs easily and wants to please. working on lay “down” command

? Needs fenced in yard? preferred because that’s what she knows
? Need another dog in the home? no but she would love another fur sibling to play with

? Location: Columbus OH
? Energy level (high/med/low)? med to high

Meet Fiesta (aka Fifi), a sweet and sassy 20-week-old Belgian Malinois Terrier mix weighing a little over 20 lbs. She’s a playful little bundle of joy with a medium to high energy level who loves tug-o-war and squeaky toys. Fifi is learning commands like “sit” and “no” — she’s eager to please and responds to redirection with a little extra patience.

She’s crate trained, uses puppy pads, and is working on holding it overnight while happily going outside. A fenced yard is preferred since that’s what she knows. While great with her small and large foster siblings. She has not had any interactions with cats. Her interaction with kids is unknown but best suited with adults or older children due to her sharp puppy teeth, which she’s starting to lose.

Fifi sleeps quietly through the night in a large crate.

Her ideal home would be patient with her slight mental delay and gait irregularities. At first glance she's an all ears active puppy who pounces and plays without a hitch. But she does have a mild case of Cerebellar Hyperplasia and the vet doesn't think it will worsen. She is very adventurous but needs close guidance on stairs.

Fiesta is ready for adoption as soon as she recovers from her spay.

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable pets are in a foster home, and for that reason an application must be submitted before a meeting can be arranged. Filling out an application does not obligate you to adopt it simply tells us a little about you and the type of home you have to offer a new pet.

As a rescue it is our goal to carefully go over your application to be assured that it is a perfect fit for both the pet and you and/or your family. Our foster homes are able to easily evaluate each pet to quickly find out their likes and dislikes which is vital information to a successful adoption.

More about this rescue

Our goal is to do what we can to put an end to careless breeding that over populated the streets and local shelters. Sometimes we come across a pet that has "special needs" and our goal is to educate the public that "special needs" dogs are capable of doing anything you wish as long as you provide the proper training and have the patience needed to coincide with the training. Our inspiration her name is Dhalia and she is a lethal white Australian shepherd that is a result of merle to merle breeding. Sadly 25% of puppies born with this genetic make-up are predisposed to sight and/or hearing deficiencies. Speak! for the Unspoken has successfully fostered, rehabilitates and re-homed many animals both "normal" and "special needs"
