My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Delia’s story is one of resilience and second chances. She was rescued from a local park alongside three other rabbits. All of them were underweight and suffering from significant hair loss, clearly having endured a tough start to life outdoors.

After being brought to safety and spayed, Delia developed swelling near her surgery site that was initially believed to be a simple seroma. Wanting to ensure she received the very best care, we pulled her from the shelter to continue investigating the issue. When the swelling didn’t resolve, an ultrasound revealed it was likely a hernia. Thanks to our wonderful veterinarian and a successful exploratory surgery, Delia is now fully healed and feeling great!

Through it all, Delia has remained incredibly sweet, curious, and playful. She loves to explore her surroundings, toss her toys, and charm everyone she meets with her gentle nature.

Now that she’s recovered from her medical journey, Delia is ready to leave her past behind and hop into a loving forever home. If you’re looking for a resilient little companion with a big heart, Delia may be your perfect match.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption procedure includes a phone interview, home visit, and any necessary education of potential adopters. Our adoption fee is a $150 donation per rabbit. All of our rabbits are spayed/neutered, health checked by rabbit-savvy vets, vaccinated for the RHDV2 virus, and fostered in private homes.

For more information about adoptions, please read our guide to the adoption process or email us: information@longislandrabbitrescue.org

Go meet their pets

We don’t have a physical shelter building. The rabbits are fostered in our homes. If you are interested in any particular bunny (or bunnies), we can make arrangements for you to meet them. If you would like a companion for a bunny you already have, we can arrange for several “meetings” and a bonding session to ensure your bunny will be happy with his/her new mate!
