My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Smokey!

Smokey is a handsome little gentleman with a mysterious side. He may greet new situations with a shy glance—and maybe even a tiny hiss—but don’t let that fool you. Beneath that cautious exterior is a deeply loving boy just waiting for someone patient enough to see his true heart.
Once you’ve earned his trust, Smokey melts. He’ll gently push into your hand for more pets, leaning into your touch like he’s been yours forever. Those quiet bonding moments are where he truly shines.

Smokey loves to observe the world around him. You’ll often find him sitting nearby, wide-eyed and curious, watching as you move about the room or tidy up. He’s your silent little supervisor, always present, always taking it all in. Smokey would do best as the only cat in the home, as he prefers not to share his space with other felines. But what he lacks in kitty companionship, he more than makes up for in devotion to his person.

If you’re willing to give him a little time and patience, Smokey will reward you with all the love your heart could want. He just needs someone to see past the walls—and choose him anyway.

FMAR felines are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated for age-appropriate shots, and negative for FIV/FeLV.

More about this shelter

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
