Say hello to “MAVIS” who is a very cute AKC Standard Poodle. She is a rare silver beige color and was born April 19, 2024. Mavis is on the smaller size of a Standard as she only weighs 46 pounds and stands about 21 inches tall.
Mavis has been deeply loved and well cared for all of her life by a wonderful family. Sadly, with the health issues and increasing care required by their special needs child, it was decided that Mavis needed to be with another family. A most difficult decision, but one that had to be made.
When Mavis first came to us, she was so confused, scared and sad as she missed her family. But with lots of love and attention from us and our other easy-going Poodles, Mavis quickly adjusted to our home in one day!
Now when Mavis first meets people, she is a bit scared and unsure. But she does quickly warm up and enjoys your love and attention.
What smart girl! Just grab her leash and she knows what’s going to happen next: “A WALK!! Yeah! Let’s go so I can see some more squirrels!” True to the Poodle breed, Mavis has strong hunting instincts.
Mavis has been a perfect house dog (housetrained), so she has free access to our home when we are gone and at night. Then she likes to sleep on her bed or on the living room couch.
This almost 2-year-old Poodle is also very quiet, easy-going, loving and gentle girl. She just loves attention, enjoys following us around, considers herself a family member and is just fine with men, women and older children. She also gets along just fine with our Standard Poodles and plays with “Rainey”.
Keep in mind that she is still considered a puppy. So, with her silly and fun-loving puppy attitude, she can be little feisty towards our smaller Poodles.
She would be fine in a home of her own as she has always been an only dog. But she has been great with other soft and easy-going, fun-loving larger dogs.
Mavis really enjoys attention (call her name), she loves her treats, will muzzle your hand or will sit next to you on the couch while you give her hugs and cuddles.
*A SECURLY FENCED YARD WILL BE RECOMMENDED. As the video shows, she loves to run those Poodle Zoomies.
*You must be physically able to handle a smaller Standard Poodle.
*Preference will be given to a quiet family with past Poodle experience.
*PLEASE:
*NO cats as she will chase them.
*NO young children
*No aggressive or assertive dogs as they scare her and me.
*Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota.
She has been Vet checked healthy, spayed, teeth cleaned, vaccinations and worming are up to date. She is also Home Again microchipped and registered along with being heartworm / Lymes / Anaplasmosis / Ehrlich tested negative and placed on a preventative.
As with all the other Poodles we have adopted, Mavis’s adoption fee is 1 million trillion, zillion dollars.
However, for the right family her adoption fee is $800.00 which includes $58.00 for our 7.875% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee helps pay for some of her vet work, a leash, collar, a bag of quality dog food, a large 10-gallon dog food container, treats, dog toys in a cute toy box, a new blanket along, her large dog bed with lots of good information to help your Poodle adoption move forward on the right paw.

Go meet their pets
Please respect the fact that Picket Fence Poodle Rescue and Re-Home is not a Shelter, but a breed specific, home / family, foster care environment managed by volunteers here in central Minnesota.
We enjoy meeting with families interested in adopting one of our Poodles. However, everyone must understand that because we are NOT a Shelter, we do require an “Application For Adoption” to be filled out first. This helps us to determine if that Poodle is right for your situation and also used for our security.
As with most all Rescue Groups, our time is precious and our safety is important.
Sadly, it is the world we now live in so thank you for understanding and patience with us as we receive and go over the applications we receive for the Poodles who are available for adoption.
Our E-mail is: gail@picketspoodles.com
Or you can call us at: 763-241-2068
from 8am to 8pm Central Time

More about this rescue
PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE is a charitable and educational organization to rescue and supply Poodles with love, shelter, food, human companionship, medical care and spay-neuter services until permanent placement is secured into a pre-screened loving home, as long as the Poodle is not dangerous to humans or other dogs.
PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE will accept an adoptable Poodle who is either abandoned in a shelter, or purchased/rescued by any concerned person, or living with an owner who can no longer care for the Poodle. We also participate in rescue and placement of Poodles who are culled from Breeders or Puppy Mills.
PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE feels educating and informing the public about the commercial dog industry in America and about responsible pet ownership is very important as well as reviving the spirit of volunteerism in our great country.
PICKET FENCE POODLE RESCUE wishes to eliminate the euthanasia of any healthy, adoptable Poodles. We do not accept euthanasia as a means of population control for animals. We believe each Poodle's life is meaningful and each deserves a loving home. We take responsibility for each Poodle rescued and placed through Picket Fence Poodle Rescue for the rest of the dog's natural life.
