My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She’s a beautiful sweet & very special girl… With some special needs.

Instead of the worst outcome, we chose to give her a chance at a long, happy & healthy life. She’s too amazing to not have tried!! Several months getting through it, we are finally at a point we can begin looking for her furrever home! It has to be the absolute purrfect home for her needs!

Her special needs: she’s on a strict Gastrointestinal Diet. She does well with Science Diet Biome. Dry & wet. We would not recommend changing that for several months or possibly ever. Why? She came to us with a rectal prolapse. Reoccurring multiple times with external repair in a 2 month period. Visited a Gastrointestinal Specialist. Thoroughly tested & medicated. We decided to go at it another way, internally. It’s been 2 months now & it has not reoccurred.

With a very strict diet, routine flea treatment   with   dewormer, we are hopeful it will hold & she wont have to undergo surgery again. Adopters should understand it is not guaranteed. Understanding the importance of her diet & keeping vigilant on monthly treatments to control parasites. In addition to a clean & sanitary home. Did you know, on our shoes, we can carry all kinds of microscopic pests into our homes?? Some worse than others but for Beyonce, all could be dangerous to her.

Many people have fallen in love with Beyonce through this journey, she is truly a wonderful cat!! It breaks our heart to let her go but it’s time to let her live her best life, in a permanent home, with people that will love her as we do & willing to do whatever it takes!! As we have done. She is worth it!!

Sound like too much for you to handle? Maybe too high maintenance & expensive? Then she is not for you. We must be completely transparent about her needs to ensure they are met & always will be. When the right person comes along, willing & able to meet her needs, it is a done deal when meeting her. She is just that great!

Beyonce gets along with other cats she’s met, not bothered by dogs. She loves attention, pets & being brushed. And she likes to play too! We estimate she is around 2yrs old.

Please remember: Unless otherwise specified, all our kittens and cats are strictly indoor pets.

If you’re interested in adoption, please visit straylovefoundation.org and complete an adoption application.

Every rescue in our care receives comprehensive vetting, which includes:

  • A combo test
  • Deworming
  • Spay/neuter procedures
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchipping

We take every possible step to ensure their health and happiness, giving them the best chance at a long, fulfilling life.

While we do everything in our power to provide healthy rescues, it's important to note that some animals may have genetic health conditions we cannot predict (since we don’t have their family history). Additionally, medical tests—though highly reliable—can occasionally yield false negatives. Unexpected health issues may arise, either before or after adoption, but thanks to our thorough vetting process, the likelihood of a long and healthy life is very high.

Additional adoption details:

  • Transportation fees, if applicable, vary based on distance and expenses.
  • Home checks may be conducted.
  • Our standard tax-deductible adoption donation is $168.
  • For special breeds, uniquely colored, or exceptionally adorable rescues, we may request a higher donation to help cover vet expenses.  Beyonce's adoption donation is $198

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We have an application process to assure that adopters understand the commitment. Our base adoption donation is $148 but may ask more.

2.

Interview

Our applications are detailed so that we have the information we need to make sure our rescues go into safe, loving permanent homes.

3.

Meet the Pet

A meet and greet is always necessary to be sure the chemistry between adoptive family or person is compatible.

4.

Interview

We interview not only their references and vet but also the responsible parties if something happens to them.

5.

Approve Application

Once application is approved we still want to be sure that they understand that this is a long term commitment.

6.

Home Check

Home checks are not always conducted, especially for cats & kittens but for dogs, we always want to check to be sure fences are in order.

7.

Take the Pet Home

We understand that sometimes a new pet does not work out no matter how hard we try. We will always take our rescues back.

Additional adoption info

The Stray Love Foundation takes the time to review and process each application to ensure that our rescue animals are going to a responsible, experiences, safe and loving PERMANENT, forever home.

Go meet their pets

We are partnered with PetSmart and have cats in four windows there at all times. We also have monthly adoptions there as well as the Waggy Tail in Fairhope, Alabama which is a grooming and pet supplies shop that also fosters a few kittens at a time.
We have public indoor adoptions at many other venues. Coming up, we have two events on July 27th at the 2019.

More about this rescue

The Stray Love Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit animal advocacy organization tasked with pursuing the health and welfare of animals in the South Alabama region. The organization began formally advocating for the local animal community in 2010 and, as a foster based animal rescue group has since placed over 1,200 animals in stable, safe and loving homes locally and throughout the country. The Stray Love Foundation has four primary missions: (1) To assist stray, injured and abandoned animals through vet care, fostering, and adoption; (2) TNR projects (trap, neuter, return) with the assistance of the Foley Police Department; (3) To facilitate and support the elderly and indigent with pet care, including vet costs, spay/neuter, and re-homing as necessary (also known as our Big Love Projects); and (4) To provide educational outreach programs to children and local groups to build awareness of the importance of companion animals as well as the importance of kind and compassionate treatment towards all animals.
