My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Arlo is extremely handsome and such a big boy. He is also incredibly smart (he has taught himself to open the doors). Arlo loves the cats he is loose with in the room he is in. He enjoys playing, pets (once he gets used to you, and treats. He is a shy boy but it does not take long to earn his trust, especially if you are consistent with treats and patient with him. He is stunning and has a unique personality to match.

He will need someone who will understand he is very shy and he will take some time to get used to his new environment.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We appreciate your interest in adoption. The adoption process is fairly easy. We believe a cat has to pick their family and a family has to pick their cat. We realize it has to be a good fit for everyone, and will take an animal back if things do not work out. Our adoption fee is typically $100.00.

Most animals listed are at a private, foster facility and an appointment is necessary to visit any animal. If interested in any animal, the best and most thorough way for a response is to fill out an application on our website. Once an application is received we will call you to set up an appointment to visit the animal. If you have any questions prior to filling out an application you can email us at office@saintsspca.org. The least preferred method of contact is to leave a voice mail on phone number listed. We are an all-volunteer organization and it is difficult to respond to phone calls.

We try and provide healthy animals for adoption but strongly recommend the pet you adopt be taken to a veterinarian for a check-up and consultation on what vaccines and treatment may be necessary. All veterinarian records will be provided at the time of adoption and can be made available sooner. Many times kittens are too young to receive a rabies shot and also require boosters as they mature. Our protocol for cats is to try and combo test for Feline Leukemia (FeLV). To save costs we only test one kitten in the litter, which may not exclude the potential for having the leukemia virus for your specific cat. We also try and provide the first set of vaccinations, worming, flea-treatment, and have the animal fixed.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable pets are available for viewing online 24/7 at our website and of course at Adopt a Pet and their affiliates, which we greatly appreciate. We also have pets showcased at PetSmart in Hammond, Louisiana, where you can view, pet and play with the animals directly. An appointment is necessary to visit any animal listed at our rescue facility unless showcased at PetSmart.

More about this rescue

SAINTS SPCA is a non-profit corporation that specializes in cat rescue. We are an all-volunteer organization and are completely funded by donations.

Our mission is to reduce the unwanted animals that have been abandoned, turned into shelters, or are feral and to provide a better quality of life. Part of that mission is to prevent and reduce the number of animals being euthanized. We work at a local, state and national level for all animals in need. Our rescue mission includes:

* Adopting cats and finding long-term homes for rescued animals.
* Fostering cats and kittens
* Maintaining a Trap, Neuter and Return program for our community
* Supporting low-cost spay and neuter programs
* Helping injured animals and feral colonies
* Participating with other groups for preventing cruelty to animals
