My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lola, a tiny rat terrier with a big personality just waiting to shine. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her a bit of time and patience and she warms up quickly. Once she feels safe, Lola turns into a spirited, silly bundle of energy who loves to zoom around, play with toys, and snack on her favorite treats. While she's still getting to know you, it's best to keep handling gentle and limited. Lola can be sensitive in a few areas-especially her hind legs-so moving at her pace helps her feel secure. When she trusts you, though, she blossoms into a total cuddle bug who adores lap time, belly rubs, and being close to her favorite people. Because of her sensitivity with handling, Lola would be most comfortable in a home with children over the age of 10 who can interact respectfully and help her continue building confidence. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she prefers not to share her space or belongings, so she'll do best as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention. Lola is currently available by appointment. If you'd like to learn more or schedule a time to meet this spunky little sweetheart, please contact the Behavior Helpline at (831) 708-5842.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Four simple steps to adopt a pet
1. Visit the SPCA at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Visit with the pet you are interested in adopting to see if his personality fits your lifestyle.
2. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, you will need to introduce them at the SPCA to ensure a good match. When adopting, please bring your current dog with you. Our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt. We also prefer when possible that all family members living in the home meet any new pet before adopting.
3. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time.
4. Take your new lifelong family member home!

We understand that sometimes potential adopters are at work or school, coming from long distances, or need time to gather pets and family together to meet their potential new adoptee. Because of this, the SPCA offers a 24 hour hold on adoptable pets.
Holds cost $30 for a 24 hour period.
