My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Buddy, the orange tabby with a white bib! Buddy came to the Shelter after a good Samaritan had been feeding him, but unable to care for him long term. Buddy is a friendly guy who has a history of being indoor-outdoor. He has interacted with a dog friendly dog positively after a slow, thoughtful introduction.

Buddy would thrive in a home that would be patient with him as he transitions. In a previous home, he peed outside the litterbox. At that time he was intact. We have since neutered Buddy and observed his litterbox habits in the Shelter (where he has been using the litterbox). We are not sure if his previous behavior was marking and influenced by being intact. Adopters may want to consider indoor/outdoor access for Buddy, after a slow, thoughtful introduction. Buddy may do just fine with litterbox training and use in his adoptive home now that he is neutered. Adopters should plan to have a couple different litterbox styles and substrates available for Buddy to pick his favorite toilet!

Buddy has been charming since his arrival and soaks up head scritches from staff and volunteers. If you are looking for a buddy of your own, come meet this Buddy today!

Buddy’s adoption fee is reduced to $33 - come to the Shelter today to adopt your very own Valentine!

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
