Dog Name: Selkie
Breed: Mix
Sex: Female
Age: 1
Weight: 45-50lbs
Medical Needs: Gets her 4DX test and rabies shot 2/24 at 2pm at Avenue Vet in Milford. She can be adopted after that.
Spay appointment has been requested in Dover and must be kept as a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt family must live within 1 hour of Dover to ensure she can be brought back for her appointment.
Housebroken: So long as you keep an eye on her and stick to a schedule, she's been good
Crate trained: Yes. Goes in easy and only makes noise if she needs to potty or when she knows it's dinner time.
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: Excitable and does pull, but takes corrections and redirection easily.
Energy level: Medium-high. She's still got that puppy energy for sure, but she's calmed the longer she's been in her foster home.
Need a fenced in yard: No, but she has discovered a love of sunbathing.
Dog Friendly: Yes, with proper introductions. She's very enthusiastic to make friends, which can be overwhelming for more reserved dogs.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No
Cat Friendly? She mostly ignores our cats now that she's used to them. With a proper introduction, she'll do fine with dog-savvy cats.
Kid Friendly: Hasn't been tested, but I'd be shocked if she wasn't.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Old enough to handle her excited delight over making friends with literally every person she meets.
Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? The Mother of Cryptids is ready to become someone's baby. Selkie came from a shelter in Maryland, and she walked into her foster home looking as plump as last year's Thanksgiving turkey. Two days later, this baby had babies of her own. She raised them with every ounce of love her little body had to offer, but now they're old enough to move on and it's time for her to get to be the puppy she still is. In a nutshell, Selkie is sugar-sweet and eager to please. She's become obsessed with sprawling out to soak up the sun, and is ALWAYS ready to lean into any pets and scritches that come her way. She's a smart little cookie with the prettiest fur, and her eyes are so full of softness that you can't help but melt like butter every time she looks your way.
